Bulgaria Now Has Its Own Universe of Mythical Superheroes

How many movies have you seen where the superhero saves New York? And how many where they save Sofia?

The fact is, when it comes to cultural and entertainment products, we mainly consume Western content.

That’s why we, the Bulgarian animation studio Chase a Cloud, embarked on an ambitious - but meaningful - project to preserve our cultural identity: a contemporary fantasy superhero universe inspired by our myths and legends.

Bulgarian Folklore for Young Generations

The mission of the project is to ensure that our cultural heritage is not just an archived memory, but an active part of the lives of young Bulgarians and children.

On the contrary, as an animation studio, we’ve spent the past seven years working on international projects for LEGO, Disney, and Marvel - some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry (examples of our work can be seen here). The Beginning of the Bulgarian Mythical Superhero Universe

The mission of the project is to ensure that our cultural heritage is not just a historical memory, but an active part of the lives of young Bulgarians.

Our plan for the coming years is ambitious: a packed calendar of new products and a funding campaign, through which, in exchange for co-ownership in Zmeyborn (the holding company owning the intellectual rights to “Khalo The Zmeyborn”), we plan to create the first Bulgarian full-length family animated feature aimed at a mass audience.

The Bulgarian Superhero the World Will Know

Our vision is that over the next few years, “Khalo The Zmeyborn” will become the strongest entertainment franchise in Bulgaria. Through the success of the film, it will reach international markets - first in the Balkans and the Slavic world, with whom we share common myths and legends, and later beyond.

Our dream is for future generations worldwide to know Bulgaria because of “Khalo The Zmeyborn”, just as they know America for Spider-Man, France for Asterix, or Poland for The Witcher.
